Dune Messiah: Book 1 is adapted by Kevin J. By Anderson and Brian Herbert, with art by Michael Shelfer and a cover by Bill Sienkiewicz. Here is the official summary of the book:

In Dune Messiah: Book 1, Paul Atreides is now the Emperor of the known universe, but his absolute power has made him both ruler and target. Hailed as a messianic figure by the Fremen and feared by rival houses, Paul must confront a growing conspiracy that threatens to topple his reign. As political enemies close in and his prescient visions begin to shift, the future of his empire—and the people he loves—hangs in the balance. Perfect for fans of the Dune films, long-time readers of the novels, and newcomers alike, this adaptation offers a unique look at the saga’s darker second act.

Adapted from the visually stunning graphic novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert, this volume brings one of science fiction’s most important stories to life in a bold, immersive new format. The rich, detailed artwork captures the scale of Arrakis and the complexity of its characters, while the visual format intensifies the story’s central tensions—power, religion, and destiny—with a new immediacy.

“Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert’s sequel to Dune, was a surprise to readers with its tone and message and how the great hero Paul Atreides falls to corruption and betrayal,” Anderson said in a statement. “In interpreting this story in a faithful, scene-by-scene graphic novel, we focused on the vast landscapes, the color of the culture, and the characters battling forces beyond their control. Michael Shelfer’s art makes the story expansive and pleasing to the reader’s eye.”

Dune Messiah: Book 1 will be released on November 3rd, with the second book in 2027. You can pre-order a copy on Amazon.

Dune: Part III hits theaters on December 18, 2026, a day moviegoers have dubbed “Dunesday.” But if the latest trailer is any indication, the third installment may diverge from Dune Messiah’s plot more than fans expect.
