In god countryFinancially strapped and mentally exhausted, Ben Marsh travels with his partner Sam to the town of White Hope to settle the inheritance left by his mother. What should be a quick, awkward family errand turns into something else entirely thanks to a local televangelist and his flock – known as the 2nd Jerusalem Church – who have been waiting for Ben like he’s the second coming.

I’ve spent years going to horror festivals and covering the work of others, so sharing a film that was largely shot by the crew here at Modern Horrors is a surreal change. God country It took us years to shoot, reshoot, edit, and then convince ourselves that we were actually done. At places like the HorrorHound premiere in Cincinnati, Ethereal Horror Film Festival in Austin, or more recently at the New York Horror Film Festival, sitting in the audience – and hearing people’s honest reactions to it – is already an incredible experience for all of us.
I wish we had a wider release announcement to share, but that will have to wait a little longer. That said, more festival dates will be announced early next year for those who can attend. Until then, you can check out the new trailer and image gallery below.
