Pendulum
In Mark Heyman’s directorial debut, married couple Patrick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Abigail (Phoebe Dinevoor) travel to a new era in New Mexico with a chance to heal after a traumatic event. Patrick is willing to do anything to help his wife, but distrusts the retreat’s mysterious leader (Jackie Weaver), even as Abigail falls under his spell. As paranoia sets in, the couple must determine whether the group’s spiritual practice offers true healing—or masks a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both.
The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Phoebe Dinevore, Anna Deavere Smith, Jena Malone with Norman Reedus and Jackie Weaver.
Writer/director Mark Heyman had this to say about the film.
This film is deeply personal and inspired by my family history. Shooting it in New Mexico, where I grew up and where the real events took place, elevated every scene and made it more surreal. Add to that firing on all cylinders and you have a horror film that I am immensely proud of and excited to release to audiences in the new year. What better way to ring in 2027 than with a selfless trip?
Vertical will release PENDULUM in US theaters on January 1, 2027.
