Santa is back and it looks like he still has a lot of violence left in his Christmas stocking. Universal Pictures brings back David Harbor as the gruff, axe-wielding Santa in Violent Night 2 , where director Tommy Wirkola returns to deliver another dose of brutal holiday action.
This time, however, Santa has a bigger problem than a few criminals on the villain list. After he loses his magic and finds himself officially evil, Kris Kringle must rediscover the true meaning of Christmas before he can save the day. His target is Mason, a ruthless gangster played by Jared Harris who terrorizes the merchants of the Silver Bell Mall.
Santa does not fight alone. Kristen Bell joins the fray as Mrs. Claus, who suits up and joins her husband in battle. The cast also includes Joe Pantoliano, Maxwell Friedman, Daniela Melchior and Andrew Batchelor.
Written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Violent Night 2 is produced by Kelly McCormick, David Leitch and Annie Marter through 87North Productions. The sequel follows the 2022 original, which turned the killer Santa idea into an unexpectedly entertaining action-comedy.
With Harbor back in the red suit and Wirkola back behind the camera, the sequel is ready to deliver exactly what fans have come to expect: Christmas cheer, hilarious violence and Santa solving problems with something a lot harder than a candy cane.
Violent Night 2 hits theaters on December 4, 2026.
